Martha St. JeanMartha is a speaker, writer, educator, and native New Yorker working in the pursuit of social justice. While pursing a M.A. Ed in Secondary Inclusive Education/Special Ed at Teachers College, Columbia University she works to provide a space in transforming how educators and students interact with and address the politics of schooling. She is deeply interested in social justice, and presents at research conferences, including the recent 34th Annual Winter Roundtable on Cultural Psychology in Education. She is a consultant, and her work for equity in educational practices provide her with the opportunity to help students become college and/or career ready. She has worked as a Senior Program Manager, for a national nonprofit, focused on getting students in and through college, utilizing the power of mentoring. Helping students reach their full potential is her life's cause, and she works with practical purpose. This year she continues to interact with students in middle and high school, coaching through challenges, making cultural connections to curricular content, and helping access resources. She holds a Master of Science in journalism, from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism, and a Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies from New York University.
